About Flickering Ward

Flickering Ward, Enchantment — aura, designed by Greg Simanson first released in Oct, 1997 in the set Tempest and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It's a key card in 2 combos.

This card, Flickering Ward, would be beneficial in a White-based aggressive deck looking to protect key creatures from removal spells or blockers of a specific color. While it offers some protection and can be returned to hand for reuse, there are potentially better options like Mother of Runes or Giver of Runes that provide similar protection with added flexibility and resilience. Flickering Ward could still see play in specific strategies that heavily rely on protecting certain creatures, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the overall game plan of the deck.

Rules

10/01/09

If you choose White, the enchanted creature will have Protection from White. This will cause any other white Auras attached to that creature to be put into their owner’s graveyard, but Flickering Ward will remain on the battlefield.
