Ajani, Wise Counselor would be beneficial in a white weenie or token-based deck, where you can quickly amass a board full of creatures to gain life with its +2 ability and buff them with the -3 ability. However, there are potentially better options for similar effects, such as Ajani, Strength of the Pride, which provides more consistent lifegain and creature buffing abilities. Ajani, Wise Counselor could still see play in certain strategies that rely on creature swarm and lifegain synergies.

Ajani’s second ability affects only creatures you control at the time it resolves. Creatures you begin to control later in the turn won’t get +2/+2.
