About Aven Surveyor
Aven Surveyor, Creature — bird scout, designed by David Gaillet first released in Jan, 2015 in the set Fate Reforged and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
Aven Surveyor would be a great addition to a control or tempo deck in Magic: the Gathering. Its ability to return a target creature to its owner's hand provides valuable disruption, allowing you to control the board and slow down your opponent's strategy. While Aven Surveyor is a solid card, there are potentially better options depending on the specific deck archetype and strategy. Cards like Reflector Mage or Vendilion Clique offer similar effects with additional benefits, so it's worth considering those alternatives when building your deck. Overall, Aven Surveyor can definitely see play in the right deck, especially if you value its flying ability and versatile enter-the-battlefield effect.
Rules
11/24/14
You choose which mode you’re using as you put the ability on the stack, after the creature has entered the battlefield. Once you’ve chosen a mode, you can’t change that mode even if the creature leaves the battlefield in response to that ability.
