Unnerve is vooral effectief in een weggooi- of controlestapel, waarbij het doel is om de hand en strategie van je tegenstander te verstoren terwijl je de controle over het bord behoudt. Decks die kaarten als Liliana of the Veil of Thoughtseize gebruiken, kunnen profiteren van Unnerve, omdat ze zich richten op handverstoring. Hoewel Unnerve krachtig is, kunnen kaarten als Hymn to Tourach of The Rack als betere opties worden beschouwd vanwege hun efficiëntie of synergie met andere weggooi-effecten.
