Een deck dat zich richt op het uitspreken van krachtige commandant-spreuken met hoge mana-waarden zou baat hebben bij het opnemen van Flamekin Herald, omdat het de mogelijkheid biedt om gratis naar extra spreuken over te gaan. Hoewel er mogelijk andere kaarten zijn die vergelijkbare effecten bieden, zoals Maelstrom Wanderer, kan Flamekin Herald nog steeds een waardevolle toevoeging zijn aan kaartspellen die willen profiteren van cascademechanismen en extra waarde willen genereren door het uitspreken van commandant-spreuken.

A spell’s converted mana cost is determined only by its mana cost. Ignore any alternative costs, additional costs, cost increases, or cost reductions. For example, Bloodbraid Elf’s converted mana cost is always 4.

The converted mana cost of a modal double-faced card in exile is that of its front face. If the last card you exile is a modal double-faced card, you may only cast the back face if the resulting spell would also have a lesser converted mana cost than the spell with cascade.

When the cascade ability resolves, you must exile cards. The only optional part of the ability is whether or not you cast the last card exiled.

Once you announce that you’re casting a commander spell, players can’t take action until you’ve finished casting it. Causing Flamekin Herald to leave the battlefield after the spell has been cast won’t stop its cascade ability from resolving.

The cascade ability triggers when you cast the spell, meaning that it resolves before that spell. If you cast the card exiled by the cascade ability, that spell will go on the stack above the spell with cascade.

You don’t have to cast the last card exiled by a cascade ability. If you choose to do so, you’re casting it as a spell. This means that it can be countered, and appropriate abilities trigger (such as if that spell also has cascade).
