Défenses nées des racines, Instantané, conçu par Mark Zug sorti pour la première fois en May, 2020 dans l'édition Return to Ravnica et a été imprimé exactement dans 7 formes différentes. Voir le jeu dans 1 formats: Commander.

Un jeu de jetons Selesnya gagnerait grandement à inclure Rootborn Defenses car il offre à la fois une protection et une génération de jetons supplémentaire. Bien que Rootborn Defenses soit une carte solide pour son coût en mana, certains joueurs peuvent opter pour des options plus polyvalentes comme Heroic Intervention, qui offre une protection talismanique en plus de l'indestructible, ou Teferi's Protection, qui fournit un effet de protection plus complet. Cependant, Rootborn Defenses peut toujours être utilisé dans des decks cherchant à maximiser la production de jetons et à protéger leur présence sur le tableau.

Rootborn Defenses affects only creatures you control after populating at the time it resolves. The creature token you create will gain indestructible, but creatures you begin to control later in the turn will not.

Any “as [this creature] enters the battlefield” or “[this creature] enters the battlefield with” abilities of the new token will work.

The new creature token copies the characteristics of the original token as stated by the effect that put the original token onto the battlefield.

You can choose any creature token you control for populate. If a spell or ability puts a token onto the battlefield under your control and then instructs you to populate (as Coursers’ Accord does), you may choose to copy the token you just created, or you may choose to copy another creature token you control.
