About Void Helix
Void Helix, Instant, designed by Jeff Carpenter first released in Jun, 2026 in the set Marvel Super Heroes Commander.
Void Helix would fit best in a slow, grindy black-based control or midrange deck—especially one that wants reach to finish the game while stabilizing against aggressive decks—since it functions as both removal and a life swing; however, at six mana (4BB) for only 5 damage, it is extremely inefficient by modern Magic standards, as black has access to much stronger options like **Invoke Despair** (which generates massive card and life advantage), **Soul Transfer** (more flexible), **Murderous Rider** (cheaper removal with a body), or even splash options like **Lightning Helix** in multicolor decks for far less mana, and dedicated finishers like **Sheoldred, the Apocalypse** or **Grave Titan** provide far greater impact at similar or lower cost; because of this, Void Helix is significantly overcosted and would likely not see competitive play, though it could be acceptable in casual, budget, or limited-style environments where raw efficiency is less critical.
