About Spellshock

Spellshock, Enchantment, designed by Thomas M. Baxa first released in Jun, 1998 in the set Exodus and was printed exactly in 4 different ways.

Spellshock is particularly effective in a control or burn deck that aims to punish opponents for casting spells, making it a great fit for red decks that focus on dealing damage quickly while disrupting the opponent's game plan. It synergizes well with cards that force opponents to cast multiple spells in a turn or with cards that create a heavy spell-slinging environment, such as in a combo or tempo strategy. While there are arguably stronger options like Chandra, Pyromaster, which provides card advantage and direct damage, Spellshock can still see play in niche builds where punishing spell-heavy decks is a priority, especially in formats where spellcasting is frequent.
