About Jinxed Idol

Jinxed Idol, Artifact, designed by John Matson first released in Oct, 1997 in the set Tempest and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

A deck that focuses on sacrificing creatures for value, such as a sacrifice or reanimator deck, would benefit from using Jinxed Idol as it provides a recurring source of damage and can be used strategically to pass on the curse to opponents. However, there are better options like Phyrexian Arena or Bitterblossom that provide card advantage without the downside of self-damage, making them more efficient choices for most decks. Jinxed Idol could see play in a specific build looking to capitalize on its unique effect, but in general, there are stronger alternatives available.

Rules

08/15/10

If you sacrifice an attacking or blocking creature during the declare blockers step, it won’t deal combat damage. If you wait until the combat damage step, but that creature is dealt lethal damage, it’ll be destroyed before you get a chance to sacrifice it.

10/04/04

Your opponent can use the ability to give this card back to you.
