About Jace's Ruse
Jace's Ruse, Sorcery, designed by Clint Cearley first released in May, 2019 in the set War of the Spark.
A deck that focuses on tempo and control strategies would benefit from using Jace's Ruse, as it allows for disruption by returning creatures to their owner's hand while also providing card advantage by searching for Jace, Arcane Strategist. However, there are potentially better cards for similar effects, such as Cryptic Command, which offers more versatility with additional modes like counter target spell or tap all creatures your opponents control. Whether Jace's Ruse should see play would depend on the specific deck's strategy and the metagame it is facing.
Rules
05/03/19
You may cast Jace’s Ruse without choosing any target creatures. You’ll just search for Jace, Arcane Strategist. However, if you choose any targets and all of those targets become illegal before Jace’s Ruse resolves, the spell won’t resolve and you won’t search.
