Winding Canyons would be beneficial in a creature-heavy deck that values flexibility and surprise plays. However, for a more competitive edge, Alchemist's Refuge is a better option as it allows all spells to be cast with flash, not just creature spells. While Winding Canyons could see niche play in certain decks, it may not be the optimal choice for most competitive strategies.
