About Summoner's Bane

Summoner's Bane, Instant, designed by Cyril Van Der Haegen first released in Oct, 2009 in the set Zendikar and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A control deck that focuses on disrupting the opponent's creature-based strategies would benefit from using Summoner's Bane, as it provides both a way to counter a creature spell and generate a blocker. While Summoner's Bane is a decent option, there are more versatile and efficient counterspells available in Magic: the Gathering, such as Mana Leak or Cryptic Command, which may be better choices depending on the deck's strategy and the overall metagame. Ultimately, whether Summoner's Bane should see play would depend on the specific deck and its game plan.

Rules

10/01/09

If the targeted spell is an illegal target by the time Summoner’s Bane resolves, the entire spell doesn’t resolve. You won’t get a creature token.
