A deck that focuses on a white-black control strategy with a strong emphasis on graveyard recursion and life gain would benefit from using Sentry of the Underworld. While it offers flying and vigilance, its ability to regenerate by paying life can be valuable in a deck that can easily replenish its life total. However, there are potentially better options for similar effects, such as Sun Titan or Grave Titan, which provide more value for their mana cost and have a bigger impact on the board. Sentry of the Underworld could see play in a specific niche deck, but it may not be a top-tier choice in competitive Magic: The Gathering formats.
