Necropolis Regent would be a strong addition to a vampire tribal deck in Magic: the Gathering, especially in a more aggressive strategy where you can quickly pump up your creatures with +1/+1 counters. However, for a more competitive deck, other options like Edgar Markov or Captivating Vampire may provide more immediate value and better synergy with the overall game plan. Necropolis Regent could still see play in a casual or themed vampire deck for its unique ability to grow your creatures, but it might not be the optimal choice for a highly competitive environment.

If that creature deals combat damage to a player at the same time it’s dealt lethal damage (perhaps because it has trample and was blocked), it will die before the triggered ability resolves and puts +1/+1 counters on it.
