This card would be beneficial in a white-based enchantment deck that focuses on controlling the battlefield by using auras to enchant creatures. While Freewind Equenaut's ability to deal damage to attacking or blocking creatures is useful, there are potentially better options such as Banisher Priest or Banishing Light that offer more versatile removal. However, if the deck is built around enchantments and synergies with auras, Freewind Equenaut could still see play as a niche card for specific strategies.
