This card, Flaming Gambit, would be beneficial in a burn or aggressive red deck looking to close out the game quickly by dealing direct damage to the opponent. It offers flexibility by allowing the opponent to redirect the damage to a creature, potentially clearing a path for your other creatures to attack. While it has its uses, more efficient burn spells like Lightning Bolt or Rift Bolt may be better options in most situations due to their lower mana cost and immediate impact on the board. However, Flaming Gambit could still see play in specific metagames where its flexibility is valued.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you’re paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The converted mana cost of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.

You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.
