This card, Excoriate, would benefit control decks that focus on removing threats from the board. While it can be useful in certain situations, there are more efficient removal spells available in white, such as Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares, which offer more versatility. Excoriate may not see much play in competitive decks due to its limitations compared to other options available.
