Eclipsed Merrow would fit best in an Azorius (white-blue) Merfolk or tribal tempo deck that wants consistent early plays and added card selection, especially in formats where tribal synergy and board presence matter more than raw efficiency; its hybrid mana cost makes it flexible in either white, blue, or true Azorius builds, and its ability helps smooth draws by finding key Merfolk or mana sources, which is useful in lower-curve creature decks. However, compared to stronger Merfolk staples like Silvergill Adept (which draws a card outright with less setup), Svyelun of Sea and Sky (a powerful tribal lord with protection and card advantage), or even Kumena’s Speaker in aggressive builds, Eclipsed Merrow is likely underpowered for competitive Modern or Legacy Merfolk lists and would probably only see play in Standard (if legal), Pioneer Merfolk shells, or casual/Commander tribal decks where redundancy and flavor matter more than efficiency.
