About Arcades, the Strategist

Arcades, the Strategist, Legendary creature — elder dragon, designed by Even Amundsen first released in Jul, 2018 in the set Core Set 2019 Promos and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It's a key card in 1 combos.

A deck focused on a defender strategy would benefit from including Arcades, the Strategist as it enhances the effectiveness of defender creatures by allowing them to draw cards upon entering, deal damage based on toughness, and attack freely. While Arcades is a strong choice for such a deck, there are other cards like Doran, the Siege Tower that offer similar benefits and may be considered as alternatives depending on the specific deck strategy and playstyle. Overall, Arcades is a solid option for a defender-themed deck and can definitely see play in the right build.

Rules

03/19/21

Arcades’s last ability doesn’t actually change any creature’s power. It changes only the amount of combat damage it assigns. All other rules and effects that check power or toughness use the real values. For example, Rabid Bite won’t cause a creature with defender to deal damage equal to its toughness.
