About Transcantation Playtest
Transcantation Playtest, Instant, designed by Ryan Printz first released in Nov, 2019 in the set Mystery Booster Playtest Cards 2019 and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
Transcantation Playtest would be particularly beneficial in a deck focused on spell synergy, such as Izzet (blue-red) control or combo decks that leverage instant and sorcery spells for maximum value. By copying Lightning Bolt, it can provide efficient removal or direct damage while allowing for target flexibility. However, there are arguably better options like Reverberate, which not only copies an instant or sorcery but also allows for additional copies if desired, making it more versatile. While Transcantation Playtest could see play in niche scenarios, it may not be optimal compared to other existing cards that offer more strategic advantages.

As the spell becomes Lightning Bolt, it stops having any targets. If the spell’s controller doesn’t change the spell’s target so it has one, the spell won’t resolve.
