Traitorous Greed would fit well in aggressive or midrange red decks that focus on creature combat and tempo, as it allows you to temporarily gain control of an opponent's creature, untap it, and use it for your own advantage, while also providing additional mana for further plays. However, there are arguably better options like Act of Treason, which costs less mana and serves a similar purpose without the added mana generation, or Chandra's Pyrohelix for direct damage if you're looking for versatility. While Traitorous Greed can be fun and provide unique strategies, it may not see consistent play in competitive formats due to the availability of more efficient alternatives.

If the target creature is an illegal target by the time Traitorous Greed tries to resolve, the spell won’t resolve. You won’t add two mana.
