Stormshard fits best in aggressive Lightning-based decks—particularly Briar, Warden of Thorns (pre-rotation Living Legend formats) or other heroes that consistently generate Lightning Flow auras—because it converts an expendable aura into an efficient +3 power buff without spending resources, helping push breakpoints and force extra cards from the opponent’s hand. It’s strongest in combo-oriented or go-wide Lightning builds that can reliably create Lightning Flow and want extra damage density, but it’s generally weaker than premium attack reactions like Lightning Press (which costs 0 and doesn’t require destroying an aura) or stronger payoff cards that generate larger power spikes or additional effects. Since destroying Lightning Flow also turns off its ongoing benefit, Stormshard can be resource-efficient but tempo-negative if the aura’s value exceeds +3 damage.
