About Stoke the Flames
Stoke the Flames, Instant, designed by Mathias Kollros first released in Jun, 2002 in the set Magic Online Promos and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.
A deck that focuses on aggressive red creatures and generating a wide board presence would benefit from including Stoke the Flames, as it allows for additional reach and removal potential while leveraging the Convoke ability to potentially cast it for less mana. However, in a competitive setting, cards like Lightning Bolt or Skewer the Critics may be considered better options due to their lower mana cost and instant speed, making them more versatile and efficient choices for direct damage spells. If a creature you control has a mana ability with in the cost, activating that ability while casting a spell with convoke will result in the creature being tapped before you pay the spell’s costs. You won’t be able to tap it again for convoke. Similarly, if you sacrifice a creature to activate a mana ability while casting a spell with convoke, that creature won’t be on the battlefield when you pay the spell’s costs, so you won’t be able to tap it for convoke.
