About Sting, Bilbo's Sword
Sting, Bilbo's Sword, Legendary artifact — equipment, designed by Barbara Rosiak first released in Jul, 2026 in the set The Hobbit and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
Sting, Bilbo’s Sword is best in Commander or casual Voltron/equipment decks that can exploit a cheap, surprise-speed power boost—especially decks led by creatures such as Frodo, Sauron’s Bane, Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale, Ardenn/Rograkh, or other commanders that reward connecting in combat—because against an opponent with several creatures it can enter at flash speed, immediately attach, and make an attacker much larger; it is also stronger in multiplayer, where creature-heavy tables are common, though it only counts one targeted opponent’s creatures. Its main weakness is inconsistency: against control, combo, tokens after a board wipe, or creature-light decks it may be merely a two-mana Equipment granting little or no power, while its equip cost of {3} is substantial. For broadly stronger equipment choices, Shadowspear is usually better for its cheap equip cost, trample, lifelink, and ability to remove hexproof/indestructible; Sword of Fire and Ice and the other Sword of X and Y cycle
