About Martial Coup
Martial Coup, Sorcery, designed by Greg Staples first released in May, 2020 in the set Conflux and was printed exactly in 16 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.
A white weenie or token-based deck would benefit from using Martial Coup as it can create a significant number of creature tokens to overwhelm the opponent. However, if you're looking for a more powerful board wipe effect, a card like Wrath of God or Day of Judgment might be more efficient in clearing the board without needing a specific number of tokens. Martial Coup could see play in certain token-focused strategies, but its effectiveness will depend on the overall game plan of the deck and the metagame it is played in.
Rules
02/01/09
Martial Coup checks the number you chose for X, not the amount of mana you actually spent.
02/01/09
No one can cast spells or activate abilities between the time the Soldier tokens are put onto the battlefield and the time all other creatures are destroyed. For example, you can’t sacrifice one of those Soldier tokens to regenerate a Skeletal Kathari.
