This card, Human: Fall of the Gavel, would be beneficial in a control deck that focuses on stalling the game and gaining life to outlast opponents. While it provides a decent effect of countering a spell and gaining life, there are more efficient and versatile options available like Cryptic Command or Absorb which offer additional utility. However, if the deck requires specific synergies or a certain amount of life gain, this card could still see play as a situational inclusion.
