About Everdawn Champion
Everdawn Champion, Creature — human soldier, designed by Sara Winters first released in Jan, 2018 in the set Rivals of Ixalan and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
A deck that focuses on defensive strategies and protecting key creatures would benefit from using Everdawn Champion, especially in a meta with aggressive combat-based decks. While Everdawn Champion offers solid protection from combat damage, there are potentially better options like Mother of Runes or Selfless Spirit that provide additional utility or protection. Whether Everdawn Champion should see play depends on the specific deck's strategy and the current metagame, but it can be a strong choice in the right circumstances.
Rules
01/19/18
Combat damage can be assigned to Everdawn Champion as normal, even though that damage will be prevented. For example, if Everdawn Champion blocks a 4/4 creature with trample, the attacking player may assign 2 of that creature’s combat damage to the player or planeswalker it’s attacking.
