A deck that focuses on sacrificing creatures for value, such as a sacrifice or aristocrats deck, would benefit from including Barter in Blood. While it is a solid card for its cost, there are more efficient options available, such as Cruel Edict or Diabolic Edict, which only require one black mana to cast and have a similar effect. Barter in Blood could see play in certain niche strategies, but may not be a top choice in more competitive environments.

The active player chooses which creatures will be sacrificed first, then each other player in turn order does the same. Then all creatures are sacrificed simultaneously.
