About Ancient Excavation
Ancient Excavation, Instant, designed by James Paick first released in Nov, 2016 in the set Commander 2016 and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.
Ancient Excavation would be beneficial in a deck that focuses on card draw and graveyard interaction, such as a Dimir control or reanimator deck in Magic: the Gathering. While it can provide a significant card advantage by drawing cards equal to the number in your hand, the downside of having to discard for each card drawn may not always be ideal. There are potentially better cards like Fact or Fiction or Thirst for Knowledge that offer similar card advantage without the discard drawback, so Ancient Excavation may not see as much play in competitive decks.
Rules
