About Amok Time

Amok Time fits best in slower green creature decks that can reliably have a sturdy creature in play, such as midrange, creature-toolbox, graveyard-value, or casual Commander decks that want a mix of removal, life buffer, and recursion; it is especially appealing if your deck has deathtouch creatures, oversized creatures, death triggers, or creatures you actively want to rebuy from the graveyard. That said, it is fairly slow and unfocused for 2G: chapter I is conditional fight removal, chapter II is low-impact, and chapter III only returns a creature to hand rather than the battlefield, so competitive decks will usually prefer more efficient options like Tail Swipe, Bushwhack, Inscription of Abundance, or Ram Through for fight/removal, and Regrowth, Eternal Witness, Bala Ged Recovery, Timeless Witness, or Grapple with the Past-style effects for recursion, depending on format.
