About Surly Farrier
Surly Farrier, Creature — kithkin citizen, designed by Jake Murray first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Lorwyn Eclipsed. It see play in 1 formats: Booster Draft.
Surly Farrier fits best in a go-wide Selesnya (green-white) creature deck that wants lots of small creatures on board and benefits from incremental combat boosts—especially in Limited or very low-powered casual formats where repeatable +1/+1 and vigilance can help push damage while keeping blockers up. However, at two mana for a 1/1 with a tap ability that only works at sorcery speed, it’s quite underpowered by modern standards; cards like **Conclave Mentor**, **Intrepid Adversary**, **Luminarch Aspirant**, or even **Travel Preparations** provide far stronger and more efficient ways to grow your board, while **Thalia’s Lieutenant** (in tribal) or **Good-Fortune Unicorn** offer scalable counters with better stats. Because it neither generates card advantage nor meaningfully impacts the board immediately, Surly Farrier is generally not competitive in Constructed and would only see play in Limited, Pauper-level casual builds, or very budget kithkin-themed decks.
