About Tree of Perdition

Tree of Perdition, Creature — plant, designed by Jung Park first released in Jul, 2016 in the set Eldritch Moon Promos and was printed exactly in 5 different ways. It's a key card in 4 combos.

A deck that focuses on manipulating life totals or using toughness as a resource would benefit from including Tree of Perdition. It can be particularly effective in decks that aim to win through life total manipulation or in strategies that can take advantage of sudden shifts in life totals. While there may be other cards that offer similar effects or better flexibility, Tree of Perdition's unique ability can still find a place in certain deck archetypes, especially those looking to disrupt opponents' game plans or set up unexpected win conditions.

Rules

07/13/16

Any toughness-modifying effects, counters, Auras, or Equipment will apply after its toughness is set to the player’s former life total. For example, say Tree of Perdition is equipped with Cultist’s Staff (which makes it 2/15) and the player’s life total is 7. After the exchange, Tree of Perdition would be a 2/9 creature (its toughness became 7, which was then modified by Cultist’s Staff) and the player’s life total would be 15.

07/13/16

If Tree of Perdition isn’t on the battlefield when the ability resolves, the exchange can’t happen and the ability will have no effect. Notably, activating the ability and giving Tree of Perdition -13/-13 in response won’t cause your opponent to lose the game.
