A deck focused on aggressive creature strategies, particularly those with high power creatures, would benefit from including Roar of Challenge. It can force opponents to block in a way that may be advantageous to you, and the potential indestructibility can provide a strong combat advantage. While there may be other cards that offer similar effects or better overall value, Roar of Challenge could see play in decks looking to capitalize on its unique abilities and synergies with powerful creatures.

Roar of Challenge doesn’t give any creatures the ability to block the target creature. It just forces those creatures that are already able to block the creature to do so.

Some ferocious abilities that appear on instants and sorceries use the word “instead.” These spells have an upgraded effect if you control a creature with power 4 or greater as they resolve. For these, you only get the upgraded effect, not both effects.
