Essence Feed, Sorcery, designed by Daarken first released in May, 2020 in the set Rise of the Eldrazi.
Essence Feed would be a great addition to a black control deck in Magic: the Gathering, providing a mix of life gain, creature generation, and direct damage to the opponent. However, a potentially better alternative could be the card Gray Merchant of Asphodel, which also costs 5 B and has a similar effect but with the potential for higher life swing. Whether Essence Feed sees play would depend on the specific strategy and synergy of the deck, but it could definitely find a home in certain black-based control or midrange decks looking for a versatile and impactful spell.
