About Smother
Smother, Instant, designed by Carl Critchlow first released in Jun, 2002 in the set Magic Online Promos and was printed exactly in 8 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Premodern.
This card, Smother, would be beneficial in a deck that focuses on early-game aggression and disruption, such as a Black-based aggro or tempo deck. While Smother is effective at removing smaller threats efficiently, there are other cards like Fatal Push or Dismember that offer more versatility and can target larger creatures as well. However, Smother could still see play in certain metagames where there are many low-cost creatures that need to be dealt with swiftly.
