A deck that focuses on ramping up mana quickly and gaining life would benefit from including Selvala, Explorer Returned, as it provides a consistent source of mana acceleration and life gain. However, in competitive Magic: the Gathering formats, there are often more efficient mana dorks and ramp spells available, such as Birds of Paradise or Noble Hierarch, making Selvala less optimal for those decks. While Selvala can be a fun and flavorful inclusion in casual or themed decks, she may not see widespread competitive play due to the availability of stronger options.
