About Putrid Goblin
Putrid Goblin, Creature — zombie goblin, designed by Winona Nelson first released in Jun, 2019 in the set Modern Horizons and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander. It's a key card in 16 combos.
Putrid Goblin fits well in a sacrifice or reanimation deck, where its persist ability can be exploited for value, allowing for repeated board presence without significant resource investment. Decks that utilize cards like Carrion Feeder or Grave Pact can benefit greatly from its ability to return to the battlefield, providing both a body and a potential sacrifice outlet. While there are stronger persist creatures, such as Kitchen Finks or Murderous Redcap, which offer more immediate value or versatility, Putrid Goblin can still see play in specific builds that capitalize on its low cost and ability to recur. Overall, it can be a fun addition, especially in casual formats or themed decks.
Rules
06/14/19
If a card with persist is removed from the graveyard after it dies but before the ability trigger resolves, it won’t be returned to the battlefield.
06/14/19
If a creature has +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters on it, state-based actions remove the same number of each so that it has only one kind of those counters on it. Putrid Goblin’s persist ability can bring it back again if its -1/-1 counters are removed this way.
