About Primal Clay
Primal Clay, Artifact creature — shapeshifter, designed by Kaja Foglio first released in May, 2020 in the set Antiquities and was printed exactly in 11 different ways.
A deck that focuses on versatility and adaptability would benefit from including Primal Clay, as it offers flexibility in adapting to different board states and strategies. While Primal Clay can be a solid choice in certain situations, there are other cards like Shapesharer or Master Biomancer that offer similar effects with potentially more impactful abilities, making them better options in competitive play. However, for a casual or themed deck looking to explore different playstyles, Primal Clay could definitely see play and add an element of surprise to your games.
Rules
03/19/21
If an object enters the battlefield as a copy of Primal Clay, it copies the values determined by its enters-the-battlefield replacement effect, but its power and toughness are determined by the copy’s own enters-the-battlefield replacement effect. This can cause you to have a 3/3 creature with flying, or a 1/6 creature with flying and defender, for example.
03/19/21
While not on the battlefield, Primal Clay is a 0/0 creature card. It doesn’t have flying or defender.
03/16/18
If a creature that’s already on the battlefield becomes a copy of this creature, it copies the power, toughness, and abilities that were chosen for this creature as it entered the battlefield.
03/16/18
In zones other than the battlefield, this creature card is 0/0.
