About Arctic Wolves
Arctic Wolves, Creature — wolf, designed by Steve White first released in Jun, 1997 in the set Weatherlight.
This Arctic Wolves card could be beneficial in a green-based midrange or control deck that focuses on card advantage and incremental value. While the Cumulative Upkeep cost can be a drawback, the ability to draw a card upon entering the battlefield can help maintain hand advantage. However, there are likely better options available in Magic: the Gathering that offer similar card draw benefits without the upkeep cost, such as Tireless Tracker or Courser of Kruphix, making Arctic Wolves less likely to see play in competitive decks.

Paying cumulative upkeep is always optional. If it’s not paid, the permanent with cumulative upkeep is sacrificed. Partial payments of the total cumulative upkeep cost can’t be made. For example, if a permanent with “cumulative upkeep ” has three age counters on it when its cumulative upkeep ability triggers, it gets another age counter and then its controller chooses to either pay or sacrifice the permanent.
