About Vein Drinker
Vein Drinker, Creature — vampire, designed by Lars Grant-West first released in Oct, 2008 in the set Shards of Alara and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
Vein Drinker could be beneficial in a control deck looking to manage the board by removing threats and growing its own creature. However, there are better options available, such as Vampire Nighthawk, which provides similar abilities with lifelink and deathtouch for the same mana cost, making it a more versatile and efficient choice. Vein Drinker may struggle to see play in competitive environments due to its high cost and limited impact compared to other options.
Rules
10/01/08
Each time a creature is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, check whether Vein Drinker had dealt damage to it at any time during that turn. If so, Vein Drinker’s third ability will trigger. It doesn’t matter whether the damage was combat damage or not. It also doesn’t matter who controlled the creature or whose graveyard it was put into.
10/01/08
When the first ability resolves, if the targeted creature is no longer on the battlefield, the ability doesn’t resolve for having no legal targets. No damage is dealt.
