Tidal Control, Enchantment, designed by Randy Gallegos first released in Jun, 1996 in the set Alliances.
A control deck focused on countering red or green spells would benefit from including Tidal Control in its strategy, as it provides a flexible and repeatable way to counter those specific colors. However, there are better options available, such as Counterspell or Mana Leak, which offer more efficient and reliable ways to counter spells without the downside of paying life. Tidal Control may not see much play in competitive decks due to its higher cost and drawbacks compared to other counter spells.
