About Sheltering Word
Sheltering Word, Instant, designed by Igor Kieryluk first released in May, 2012 in the set Avacyn Restored and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.
This card, Sheltering Word, would benefit a green-based midrange or control deck looking to protect key creatures and gain life in the process. While Sheltering Word provides a nice combination of protection and life gain, a potentially better alternative could be Heroic Intervention, which grants hexproof and indestructible to all creatures you control for the same mana cost. However, Sheltering Word could still see play in certain decks that prioritize gaining life or have specific synergies with creature toughness.
Rules
05/01/12
If a creature gains hexproof in response to a spell or ability controlled by an opponent that targets only it, that spell or ability doesn’t resolve for having an illegal target when it tries to resolve.
