Alternatives like Torrent Sculptor may be better as it has a similar cost reduction mechanic without the need for specific card types in the graveyard, making it more versatile. Overall, Serpent of the Pass could see play in decks that can reliably fill the graveyard with noncreature, nonland cards, and have a sufficient number of Lesson cards for its flash ability to be relevant.
