Barbed Sextant would be most beneficial in decks that require fixing their mana base and have ways to take advantage of extra cards drawn. Decks with multiple colors or decks that rely on specific colors of mana would benefit from the flexibility this card provides. However, there are better cards for mana fixing and card draw, such as Mana Crypt and Sensei's Divining Top, making Barbed Sextant less optimal for competitive play.
