Aven Tactician, Creature — bird soldier, designed by Christopher Moeller first released in Mar, 2015 in the set Dragons of Tarkir.
A deck focused on creature synergy and +1/+1 counters would benefit from including Aven Tactician, especially in a white-based aggressive strategy. While Aven Tactician offers decent value with its flying ability and bolster effect, there are potentially better options like Elite Scaleguard or Abzan Falconer that provide more impactful abilities for a similar mana cost. However, Aven Tactician could still see play in certain decks looking for additional flying threats and incremental value through bolster triggers.

Bolster itself doesn’t target any creature, though some spells and abilities that bolster may have other effects that target creatures. For example, you could put counters on a creature with protection from white with Aven Tactician’s bolster ability.
