About Contagion Engine

Contagion Engine, Artifact, designed by Daarken first released in Oct, 2010 in the set Scars of Mirrodin and was printed exactly in 5 different ways. It's a key card in 3 combos.

This card would benefit a deck focused on controlling the board by weakening your opponent's creatures and steadily increasing your own advantage through proliferate. While Contagion Engine can be a powerful tool in the right deck, it may be outshined by more efficient options like Contagion Clasp or Inexorable Tide, which offer similar effects at a lower cost. Whether or not Contagion Engine should see play ultimately depends on the specific strategy and synergy of the deck it's included in.

Rules

03/19/21

If a permanent has +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters on it, they’re removed in pairs as a state-based action so that the permanent has only one of those kinds of counters on it.

03/19/21

You don’t have to choose every permanent or player that has a counter, only the ones you want to add another counter to. Since “any number” includes zero, you don’t have to choose any permanents at all, and you don’t have to choose any players at all.

01/01/11

As Contagion Engine’s activated ability resolves, you’ll complete an entire proliferate action, then you’ll complete a second proliferate action. You may choose different players and/or permanents, or different counters on those permanents, when you proliferate the second time.

01/01/11

You can choose any player that has a counter, including yourself.
