**Unexpected Assistance** would fit best in a blue-based token or creature-heavy tempo deck that can reliably generate multiple creatures to take advantage of convoke—such as Azorius Soldiers, Mono-Blue Spirits (in formats where creature density is high), or Simic Tokens—because tapping creatures effectively reduces the five-mana cost and lets you refuel without spending your full turn’s mana. However, five mana (even with convoke) for “draw three, discard one” is generally inefficient compared to stronger blue card draw spells like **Memory Deluge**, **Treasure Cruise**, **Dig Through Time**, or even **Chart a Course** in aggressive decks, all of which offer better rate, selection, or card advantage without requiring board presence.
