A deck focused on gaining incremental life advantage and utilizing shadow mechanics would benefit from including Augur il-Vec. However, there are better options available for gaining life or utilizing creature abilities more effectively in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks. Augur il-Vec may not see play in highly optimized decks, but it could have niche applications in casual or themed decks that focus on specific mechanics or strategies.

Once a creature has been blocked, that creature remains blocked and will deal and be dealt combat damage even if it gains or loses shadow or if the blocking creature gains or loses shadow.
