A mono-black control deck would benefit the most from including Corrupt in its strategy, as it rewards the player for controlling a high number of Swamps and provides both damage and life gain. While Corrupt can be powerful in the right deck, there are better cards that offer similar effects, such as Exsanguinate, which can deal damage to multiple targets and gain life based on the total amount of mana spent. The amount of damage dealt to a creature is not bounded by its toughness, and the amount of damage dealt to a player is not bounded by that player’s life total. For example, if Corrupt deals 6 damage to a 2/2 creature, you’ll gain 6 life.
