Xenobotanist would fit multicolor Commander decks, especially budget lists or creature-synergy strategies that need reliable color fixing, since it turns two mana into access to any color on later turns; however, it is generally outclassed by `Paradise Druid`, which costs the same but is a 2/1 and has hexproof while untapped, and higher-powered decks prefer options such as `Bloom Tender`, `Faeburrow Elder`, or cheap noncreature ramp like `Arcane Signet` and land-fetch spells because they are harder to remove or generate more mana. It is playable when you specifically want an inexpensive mana creature with this exact flavor or creature type, but it would not normally be a competitive inclusion when better two-mana fixing is available.
